Supporting writers throughout the Scottish Borders

Borders writers' forum

Our aim is to support and promote writers throughout the Scottish Borders

The Borders Writers’ Forum has a long history, having been started back in 2001.

Throughout this time we have grown a stable of authors writing in all styles and genres, prose and poetry.

Each year we have a presence at the Borders Book Festival which will next be held in Melrose between June 11-14 2026.

What We Offer

Each year we provide a series of events for local authors to suppport their development and promote their work. Our next three events are shown here.

Peer Review (January)

Submit an example of your work for review by our members. At least two people will provide written feedback to aid your development as a writer.

Is My Manuscript Ready? (February)

The first in our panel discussions on the theme of "The Road To Getting Published." There will also be follow-on breakout groups on specific topics.

Writing Skills Workshop (March)

An interactive session focussing on a particular aspect of effective writing. More detail will be provided nearer the time
